DHL Supply Chain has today announced its third major partner under the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme, with LG Electronics joining Sony Australia and Samsung Electronics Australia.

DHL was the first company to begin recycling when its collection stations opened in Canberra in mid-May 2012. LG is an existing client of DHL’s logistics services.

“With on-ground collection and recycling activity now underway, DHL is pleased to announce the signing of current customer LG Electronics to our arrangement,” said DHL CEO South Pacific Terry Ryan in a statement.

“DHL’s existing partnership with LG includes a business-to-consumer delivery service of products, including installation. This service enables consumers to purchase a new TV in store, have the unit delivered and installed, while also having the option to have the old unit returned for recycling.

“At present, this service is offered to metro areas of Australia, with plans to roll-out regionally in the near future.

“LG is a household brand, and their commitment to our solution will enable their consumers to become good product stewards.”

And here’s LG Electronics corporate marketing manager Fiona Irving:

“LG Electronics is confident in DHL’s solution. We are pleased to be a premium customer under their product stewardship arrangement and look forward to providing Australians with greater choice for recycling and responsible disposal of their end of life equipment.

“DHL will assist LG in fulfilling our obligations under the government regulations, while increasing our reputation as a corporate social citizen.”
