SYDNEY, NSW: JB Hi-Fi is getting the first crack at selling the new Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi only tablet, with the new 32GB 10.1-inch tablet going on sale today for RRP $689. Up to now, the Xoom was available through Telstra as a Wi-Fi plus 3G device. 

The new Xoom Wi-Fi has a MicroSD card slot to expand memory by another 32GB, plus Bluetooth and USB connectivity. There’s a 5-megapixel rear camera with HD video recording and a 2-megapixel front facing camera for video chats over clients such as Google Talk.

The Xoom has Google’s Android 3.1 (Honeycomb) operating system running off a 1GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM.

According to Motorola, new features include improved multitasking, resizable home screen widgets, keyboard and mouse support, picture transfer from cameras via USB and a preloaded Adobe Flash player.

Accessories include a Standard Dock for watching video content, the Speaker HD Dock for sending content to HD TVs and a custom Bluetooth keyboard with Android shortcuts.

JB Hi-Fi marketing director Scott Browning said he was pleased to be a launch partner of the new Xoom Wi-Fi.

“The Motorola Xoom has been greatly received by both consumers and commentators since its launch in May and so we’re delighted to be able to broaden our customers’ choice by stocking the Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi,” Browning said.
