VBreathe Tasman, a portable indoor-air environmental detoxification device that has been successfully tested by an independent laboratory for the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) accepted surrogate for Covid-19, has taken out a 2020 Good Design Gold Winner Award.

The device comes with a world-first patented combination of HEPA filtration and VActive natural gel technology that works to radically improve indoor air quality. It claims to be the most intelligent, portable and effective indoor air detoxifier in its class.

Independently tested, the design has demonstrated an extremely successful reduction against a TGA accepted surrogate coronavirus of 99.9% and independently proven to reduce harmful indoor bacteria, viruses, microbes, mould, toxins and airborne particles (PM2.5 to 1 micron). It has also undergone testing by leading third-party Australian laboratories and universities following the guidelines of Australian and international health standards.

As most air purifiers rely on HEPA filters alone, these can only filter the air that passes through the device. The HEPA filtration with its all-natural VActive gel, smart sensors and air chain control in VBreathe spreads into the entire room to protect against harmful indoor airborne and surface pathogens and toxins. The gel contains a unique blend of Australian essential oils which are expelled in vapour form into the surrounding air, to detoxify the indoor environment.

The device claims to be food, child and pet safe, will deter mosquitoes, help allergy sufferers and remove odours.  The gel cartridge lasts up to four months on medium fan speed with 24-hour use. Lightweight and portable with a small footprint, it is just 25cm tall and weighs 1.2kg with a battery that lasts for up to 10 hours.

The time it takes to detoxify a room depends on various factors, such as room size, air circulation and whether windows or doors are open or closed. As a rough guide, in a 4x4m room with no open windows or doors, it will take approximately 2-3 hours to detoxify the air in the room to a 95-99% level. Larger rooms take longer. It may take 2-3 days to detoxify the air in a 10x10m room to a 95-99% level using a single VBreathe Tasman device. Every aspect of the device can be controlled and monitored via the VBreathe app.

VBreathe CEO, Mohit Sharma told Appliance Retailer the device is designed, developed and assembled in Australia, is being tested through nursing homes in NSW and will be released into pharmacies in October.

“There has been interest from electrical retailers with distribution likely to roll out in selected outlets in November. A further two models, one small and another larger than the current version will be released in mid-2021,” he said.

The device retails for $690 and comes in five colours, silver, red, blue, black and rose gold. Each box contains three VActive gel cartridges and two HEPA filters.
