SYDNEY, NSW: Canon, Nikon and LG were amongst the winners at the 2011 Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) Awards held recently in Turkey. These awards are voted on by the 29 member magazines, representing Australia, the United States and China, amongst other countries.

Canon was the biggest winner this year, picking up four awards: Best Professional Lens, Best Entry Level DSLR, Best Multifunction Photo Printer and Best Superzoom Camera. Other multiple award winners included Panasonic (for Best Image Storage Media, Rugged Compact Camera and Expert Compact System Camera), Fujifilm (for Best Photo Service, Premium Camera and Retail Finishing System) and Nikon (for Best DSLR Advanced and General Compact Camera).

In the display categories, LG was a standout performer, winning Best Photo TV Display and Best Entry Level Photo Monitor. Rival Korean brand Samsung was judged to be the pick of the entry level suppliers, winning Best Entry Level Camcorder and Best Entry Level Compact System Camera.
