Arlo has strengthened its home security range with the addition of a video doorbell with an industry-leading 180-degree vertical field of view with 1:1 aspect ratio for a larger and more precise picture.

High definition resolution image quality is supported by two-way audio and unlike conventional doorbell cameras, the Arlo video doorbell delivers instant direct-to-mobile video calls and personalised alerts when packages, people, vehicles or animals are detected. Users can choose to answer the video call or respond with pre-recorded, quick-reply messages.

With a weather-resistant design, the video doorbell can be connected to an existing mechanical or digital chime for simple installation and continuous power, while reducing latency for faster transmission of videos in near real-time.

Other features include night vision, zoom functionality on live video calls, silent mode to disable push notifications and to silence chime and tamper detection will trigger a siren if someone attempts to remove the doorbell.

With the purchase of an Arlo video doorbell, users will receive a complimentary three-month trial to Arlo’s AI subscription-based service, Arlo Smart, where they will have access to rolling 30-days of cloud recordings to store and view video clips. Users can also customise their experience by adjusting notification settings through the accompanying Arlo app.

The Arlo video doorbell will be available in major electronic retailers from mid-April for RRP $289.
