In the lead up to the launch of its new showroom, set to take place in Melbourne tomorrow night, Smeg has announced the arrival of a range of sinks to tie in with its collection of kitchen appliances.

The Italian brand has launched three ranges – the geometric LD collection, the LQV collection (which is designed to complement Smeg’s Linear range of appliances) and the sleek, stainless steel LV collection.

The LD collection features three models, including two double bowl sinks with and without drainer as well as a single bowl and drainer. Each model is finished with clean square lines and a low profile and is designed to work with the Marc Newson collection of ovens and cooktops from Smeg.

The top-mounted LQV sinks are hand-made from stainless steel and feature silver or black glass sliding work surfaces that create a low profile. In addition, the LQV models feature remote plug controls, with a twisting knob on the front of the sink that lifts or lowers the plug without the need for wet hands.

Finally, the LV collection includes single and double bowl models with raked drainers, each designed to work with the aesthetics of Smeg’s stainless steel appliances, such as the the four and five burner PGA model cooktops.

Smeg Australia general manager Andrew Cronin spoke to Current.com.au earlier in the year about the company’s plans for sinks, saying the new products would be ideally showcased alongside appliances in retail outlets.

“Sinks is an area we want to get into in a bigger way,” said Cronin. “Smeg make a glorious range of upmarket sinks and it’s something we want to add to. To do it properly you’ve got to have displays in store.

"It’s very much a kitchen oriented product, so we wish to sell distribute through our kitchen appliance specialists.

“If you wanted to choose Smeg and choose products made in Smeg factories, you could have an oven, a cooktop, a rangehood, a dishwasher and a sink,” he added.

The sinks are set to be available nationally.
