SYDNEY, NSW: Optus has today announced the launch of a new mobile phone application that offers users electronic vouchers and discounts for restaurants, as well as restaurant listings, reviews, booking information and travel directions to dining venues.

Known as “Go Places”, the app offers eligible Optus customers 20 per cent off at thousands of participating restaurants that are part of the Frequent Values by Entertainment program. The vouchers are also reusable within a 24-hour or 12-month validity period, based on the user’s subscription.

“Australia offers such diversity in great cuisines but one of the hardest things about heading out for a meal is choosing which restaurant to dine at, said Optus Digital Media director, Austin R. Bryan. “With Optus Go Places, we’ve made things easier by partnering with some of Australia’s most respected hospitality service brands to develop an integrated app for all things dining.”

“Smartphones are amongst the most treasured possessions for Australians and we’ve always got them by our side,” he added. “The Go Places app is the perfect tool for organising a dinner out and connecting with friends on your mobile device, as well as getting a great deal to selected restaurants through the electronic vouchers.”

Go Places allows users to read reviews from the website Eatability before booking a table and getting directions to the restaurant, all using the same app.

The app can be downloaded for free and used on Android devices as well as selected Nokia Symbian Touch and BlackBerry devices. An iPhone app will be available at a later date. Access to electronic vouchers will be available for $39.99 for a year’s access, or individual vouchers can be purchased for $2.99.
