Technika, the distributor of a number of European-designed and Italian-made cooking appliance brands in Australia, has announced the creation of a new marketing manager role to promote its stable of brands and products in the local market.

The brands in the Technika stable include Bellissimo, Fernetto, Lofra, Mia Cucina, Tecnogas and Viali, as well as Bertazzoni and La Germania, which were discontinued by previous distributors Sampford IXL at the end of 2011, and later acquired by Technika.

Lisa Sutcliffe, former sales and marketing executive for ASKO appliances, begins as the new marketing manager at Technika as of this week. According to Sutcliffe, this position has been charged with increasing awareness of Technika’s largely European brands in the local retail industry.

“I think it really is to make the brands more known in the marketplace, and also to implement some really good social media and other activities surrounding those brands,” she said.

“In the short term, the social media element will be just getting the name out there and actually building those networks and listening to what our customers want a bit more. And then in the long term, we’ll probably look at promotions and interacting a bit further.”

Sutcliffe said her responsibilities will also include managing websites and brochures for Technika’s cooking brands, as well as increasing the point of sale materials used in retail stores, and maintaining “consistent” branding at the retail level.
