Acer Computer Australia has recalled the power cord shipped with Acer, Gateway and eMachines branded notebook computers. The power cord can overheat during use resulting in fires or burns, according to a notice posted to the Product Recalls website.
The power cord carries the name Linetek LS-15, which may be printed on the cord as LS-15 Linetek.
This recall spans nearly five years’ worth of notebook sales, from 1 September 2010 through 31 March 2015 and it potential affects hundreds of thousands of consumers. The power cord was included in sales made nationally through distributors and retailers.
Consumers who purchased an Acer, Gateway or eMachines notebook during the recall period should follow the instructions on this dedicated website to find out if they are affected. If they do have a faulty power cord, they should immediately stop using it and contact Acer for a free replacement cord, which will be sent by mail.
