Sustainability was the main theme discussed as part of the recent Next@Acer event, where the technology company announced its upcoming range of environmentally-friendly Vero products.

Two new Vero Aspire laptops headlined the announcements, both of which incorporate recycled materials into their design. With 14-inch and 15-inch models, the Acer laptops are powered by the latest 12th Gen Intel Core processors and feature Full HD displays running on Intel Iris Xe graphics.

Each laptop includes two USB-A 3.2 ports and a Thunderbolt 4 USB-C port for versatile connectivity. The 14-inch model will come in two colours, Cobblestone Grey and Mariana Blue, while the 15-inch will be available in either Starry Black or Cobblestone Grey.

What’s particularly striking about the Vero Aspire laptops is the significant percentage of recycled materials used throughout the manufacturing process. Both devices’ trackpads are made from ocean-bound plastic, referred to as OceanGlass.

Each laptop chassis uses 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic, as does the screen bezel, and the keycaps use 50% PCR plastic. To match the sustainability efforts with the hardware materials, Acer created inner packaging made from 85% recycled paper that doubles as a foldable laptop stand, in addition to a 100% industrial recycled plastic laptop sleeve.

Beyond two new laptops, Acer also expanded its sustainably-made Vero range to include the Veriton Vero All-In-One desktop PC, Vero PD2325W Projector, and Vero peripherals including two new displays – the 23.8-inch Acer B247Y G and 27-inch Acer CB273 FHD models – plus a mouse and keyboard. Each addition to the Vero line is made from various combinations of PCR and ocean-bound plastic in an effort to reduce the company’s ecological footprint.

“We’re pleased to continue to deliver on our Earthion mission to tackle environmental issues with novel solutions and greener products by rounding out our Vero line,” Acer Inc. co-chief operating officer, Jerry Kao said.

“In addition to new PC and monitor models, our Vero mix now extends to peripherals and projectors to offer a wider breadth of sustainably-designed products that decrease waste and carbon output without compromising performance.”

Australian release and pricing details for the upcoming Acer Vero range are limited. Currently, the only confirmed information includes a starting price tag of $1,299 for the 15-inch Acer Aspire Vero (AV15-52) laptop coming in October, while the B247Y G and CB27 displays will launch at around the same time for $499 and $699 respectively.
