Johnson Controls Australia has partnered with AtmosAir to introduce a new air purifying system that improves indoor air quality in building environments including offices and retail stores, which is now more important than ever amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The AtmosAir solution works by producing bipolar ions that attach themselves to airborne viruses, odours and pollutants, rendering them inactive. The ions intercept particles causing them to agglomerate and fall out of the air, actively reducing microorganisms that collect on surfaces including bacteria, fungi, mould, spores and airborne viruses. The system also restores oxygen ion levels and treats germs before they infect people by continuously disinfecting the air.

Johnson Controls president for APAC, Visal Leng said, “As this virus has spread, we have committed to Australia and the rest of the world to support critical infrastructure such as hospitals and temporary medical facilities, and medical personnel battling this pandemic.”

The AtmosAir system has been tested extensively by leading virologist, Dr John Oxford and its ability to reduce airborne and surface infections has been detailed at length by Dr Philip Tierno from New York University School of Medicine.
