Harris Scarfe has made 59 roles redundant – 16 from Harris Scarfe support offices in Melbourne and Adelaide and 43 across 23 Harris Scarfe stores.
Confirmed by receivers, Deloitte Restructuring Services, all affected employees will be paid their entitlements in full. There are now approximately 1,200 employees that remain with the business.
This announcement comes as the receivers finalise the sale of Harris Scarfe to Spotlight Group, which is expected to be completed following the second creditors meeting after Easter. Spotlight was granted exclusivity to buy Harris Scarfe in early March.
In a statement shared with Appliance Retailer, the receivers said: “Decisions such as these are never easy but have been necessary following ongoing and detailed assessments of the structure and resourcing requirements of the business, with a view to ensuring its sustainability.”
