CES 2020: Hisense Dual Cell technology to rival OLED

In new ULED TV Series.

Hisense has announced its Series X ULED XD with Dual Cell technology that claims to challenge black levels achieved by OLED TV technology.

Hisense Australia head of marketing, Andre Iannuzzi said if there was a Hisense TV technology to rival OLED, this is it.

“Dual Cell technology sets a new standard in LED TVs with a highly innovative composition and design,” he said.

The ULED XD utilises two 4K panels precision-bonded together – one greyscale or monochrome layer that controls luminance and a second layer that controls colour, enhanced by Dolby Vision HDR. The greyscale layer effectively blocks light from pixels that need to be darker, creating more than two million dimming zones.

Hisense’s 2020 TV range is rounded out by the Series Q9 ULED 8K TV and Series Q8 ULED 4K Quantum Dot TV, unveiled at CES in Las Vegas.

The 8K ULED TV features Full Array Backlight, Dolby Vision HDR and proprietary Hi-View Engine, enabling AI-powered upscaling of low-resolution content to 8K from a variety of sources.

The Series 8 ULED 4K TV also features Dolby Vision HDR and Quantum Dot with a unique design that includes Floating Edge screen and Folded Aluminium stand.

A new-and-improved evolution of VIDAA, VIDAA 4.0, will also be available on the 2020 ULED TV range, enabling users to navigate their screens via in-built Amazon Alexa to search for content or switch apps without the need for a third-party device.

“Our 2020 TV line-up is unlike anything we’ve offered before – it’s bigger, better, bolder and pushes the boundaries with game-changing innovations in picture quality, like that offered by our ULED XD. It’s a range that we’re incredibly proud of and, most importantly, it’s a line-up that’s been designed with Australian viewing needs front and centre,” Iannuzzi said.

“Working closely with our global and local R&D teams, we will continue to push to deliver the best in home experience for 2020, not only in the TV space but in other categories too,” he added.

Information on local pricing and availability will be shared in H1 2020.
