Samsung debuted its first foldable smartphone – the Galaxy Fold – at its annual Unpacked Event in February.
The device’s global rollout was announced at this year’s IFA in September, confirming availability in Korea, France, Germany, the UK, Singapore and the US. The Galaxy Fold then became available in Australia from 30 October with RRP $2,999.
The Galaxy Fold features a world-first 7.3-inch Infinity Flex Display – Samsung’s largest ever smartphone display which folds into a compact device thanks to a new polymer layer and display around 50% thinner than the typical smartphone display. It sports Samsung’s most versatile camera yet with six lenses—three in the back, two on the inside and one on the cover.
With Multi-Active Window, users can open up to three active apps simultaneously on the main display to surf, text, work, watch and share content. The Galaxy Fold is equipped with a high-powered, next-generation AP chipset and 12GB of RAM with PC-like performance, and it is capable of charging itself and a second device simultaneously via Wireless PowerShare, while connected to a regular charger.
