In late November, JB Hi-Fi opened its first standalone JB Hi-Fi Express store at Southgate in Melbourne’s CBD, following the success of its small format stores at Sydney Domestic Airport.

At just over 68 square metres, JB Hi-Fi Express features a specifically selected range of mobile phones and accessories, headphones and portable audio, mobile computing and supporting IT products along with wearable fitness and smartwatches, designed to cater to smaller cash and carry and impulse purchases, according to Group CEO, Richard Murray.

“This store provides the opportunity to test and learn in a smaller format store in a CBD environment which could be extended to further locations if successful,” he said in a statement supplied to Appliance Retailer.
