Bunnings to sell appliances and home entertainment

Through online marketplace.

Bunnings customers will soon be able to purchase indoor furniture, whitegoods, kitchen appliances, home entertainment, kitchenware and homeware, not currently available in stores, through its online marketplace, MarketLink.

This announcement follows the launch of Amazon Australia’s Garden Store in September, with a range of outdoor products, including barbecues, patio furniture, gardening equipment and pool supplies made available.

Scheduled to roll out from November, Bunnings’ managing director, Mike Schneider has confirmed that discussions with home and lifestyle retailers and manufacturers are already underway with more than 8,000 products ready for launch.

“MarketLink will feature a wide variety of products, including well-known brands, that are not currently available in Bunnings stores,” he said.

“This is about creating a highly curated range of products that extends and complements our in-store range, creating a one stop shop for our customers’ home and lifestyle needs – everything from the front gate to the back fence.”

Home and lifestyle retailers and manufacturers interested in selling on MarketLink are required to qualify for its Trusted Sellers Program.

Bunnings acquires Adelaide Tools

In other news, last week Bunnings entered into an agreement to acquire leading South Australian family-owned and operated retailer, Adelaide Tools.

With a 70-year history, Adelaide Tools serves trade customers and high-end DIY enthusiasts through its five Adelaide stores, Oaklands Mower Centre and online store.

Bunnings’ Mike Schneider said the acquisition will allow the hardware giant to improve the way it connects, serves and engages with trade customers and is aligned with its strategy to accelerate the growth of the trade business.

“While our businesses are very different, we see strong alignment between the Adelaide Tools and Bunnings brands with both businesses having a strong focus on team, advice and service – we believe this acquisition will deliver even more choice and convenience for trade customers,” he said.

The acquisition is subject to regulatory approval.
