Entries for the 2019 Sony Alpha Awards have opened to amateur and professional photographers in Australia and New Zealand.
There are nine categories including Portrait, Landscape, Nature, Sport and Youth, with four new categories – Seascape, Astrophotography, Wedding and City/Street.
Each category winner receives Sony digital imaging gear worth $2,000 and go into the draw to win $10,000 worth of Sony digital equipment.
The standalone Youth competition will run for a second time this year, after a successful 2018, aimed at recognising photographers aged 11-18 years. To enter, applicants can submit photos captured on any device, such as a camera, tablet or smartphone, then upload to Instagram.
Two finalists each win an Alpha camera and lens and an all-inclusive trip to Sydney where they will go head-to-head in a photography challenge to determine the winner.
Eligible images, with the exception of the Youth category, must be taken with Sony Alpha cameras, body and lens. Submission close on August 31, 2019 and winners announced September 26, 2019.
