Huawei has begun a global roll out of its EMUI 9.1 update, intended to deliver a faster user experience to its smartphone customers.

EMUI, the latest Android 9 Pie based operating system will be available on seven Huawei devices, including the Mate20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate10 and Mate10 Pro from mid-July. Huawei will also continue to provide ongoing Android services and security updates to customers.

Consumer Business managing director, Larking Huang, said the update provides users with a more streamlined and secure experience by introducing the latest Android security patches along with a new and improved gaming experience, with GPU Turbo 3.0. This reduces the screen touch response delay by 36 per cent for uninterrupted play.

“Other improvements include a smoother user experience when customers use Share OneHop, for easy transfer of content between the smartphone and PC with an increased number of scene recognition capabilities in Master AI camera mode, designed to elevate photographic experiences,” he said.

There is also a simplified settings menu with new wallpapers and themes and a digital wellbeing feature to help promote a healthy lifestyle with screen time statistics, sleep time management and parental control for supervising children’s smartphone usage. The wellbeing feature can also be used to manage usage time, apps, downloads, share location and trace devices.
