Confirms pleasing pre-sales.

Samsung was host to a select group of media for an exclusive local launch of the Galaxy S10, first unveiled at its Unpacked event ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) and due to go on-sale on Friday 8 March 2019.

Samsung Electronics Australia vice president of IT and mobile, Garry McGregor said, “Just over a week ago, we introduced our next line-up of Samsung S10 flagship products and over the last 50 years, Samsung Electronics has continued to innovate and strive to make lives easier and certainly in the last 10 years with the introduction of the Galaxy S smartphone portfolio.

“We have pushed the boundaries of mobile technology and introduced new device categories – the large screen, the pen, wireless charging, IP68 water rating and we will continue to push boundaries.

“The Galaxy Fold ushers in a new era of smartphones as we reinvented the display, the materials and a lot of research went into the open and close mechanism and it is the most natural thing to do. Making it seamless is obviously a challenge when users swap between the inner screen and outer screen. The Fold is a smartphone, a camera and a tablet that can fit in a back pocket.

“Consumer demand for mobile technology has never been greater with the smartphone now the primary way of consuming media and data for many.

“Pre-sales of our Galaxy S10 has far exceeded our expectations and the global response has been phenomenal. We have seen strong double digit volume growth in pre-sales year-on-year which is pleasing to see, especially this year with new form factors and the introduction of 5G.”

Since the first Galaxy S was introduced in 2009, Samsung has sold over two billion Galaxy devices.
