Former Winning Appliances head of buying and marketing, Sam Zalin (pictured) has described the new e&s Preston store as the best he has seen.
Zalin was the head of buying and marketing at Winning Appliances when he left the business late last year after five years with the company.
In his address to the official opening of the 3000 square metre e&s Preston superstore last Wednesday in Melbourne, Zalin didn’t mince his words.
“For me, having seen a number of appliance showrooms over the years, both domestically and abroad, this for me is the best showroom in appliances and in bathroom that I have ever seen.
“And it is not because we have a stunning demo kitchen and beautiful bathroom area as well as a wine area, but because every detail of this store has been well thought through by a team of professionals and we are lucky to have an outstanding team at E&S who just understand the industry and the customer journey and have developed this entire store around this, so when a customer walks in the flow works and the layout works and it is just beautiful and I enjoy spending time in here every time I visit.
“I only started at E&S on the 10th of December and on the 14th of December, we opened this stunning showroom, so I am taking full credit for it,” Zalin joked.

“It leads me on to a huge thank you to the E&S team who made this happen – you should be extremely proud of what you have delivered here – it is truly outstanding. To (store manager) Faheem and his team of salespeople, you have absolutely taken the baton with this store and run with it. I use the example that every time I come in here at 8.30am, the entire team is mobilised with cloths just cleaning the store, they have immense pride in this store and they have delivered great sales results already because of that pride.
“I wanted to extend our gratitude to our supplier partners. We can never deliver anything like this without your help, we really appreciate your support and acknowledge those that have pushed the boundaries – done things differently and delivered some stunning state of the art displays here in this store, and perhaps the journey doesn’t finish with putting in a display – you made sure we could launch our store on time and more than that, once we launched you have been in here with demonstrators, reps, accounts managers and sales directors to make sure the store was a success for you as well as for us.”
