Increased commitment to retail.

Laser was host to a select group of media to reflect on 2018 and provide a sneak peek of what’s to come for Christmas and the New Year.

“2018 for Laser was very much about looking at the next 30 years – our future,” managing director, Chris Lau said.

“It has been a busy year for both consumer electronics and the CE retail space. At Laser, we have undertaken a significant review of every element of our business operations including IT systems, online digital assets, warehousing, logistics, our overseas office and more. There hasn’t been an area of our business that has not been touched – and improved – by this internal exercise.

“In particular, Laser has strengthened its sales team and commitment to its bricks and mortar retail partners to develop a partnership that is closer than ever before as we strive to add value from a buyer level through to a store level.

“Our retail partners can expect to see increased in store representation, an improved in store experience, updated packaging, first class digital assets and a commitment to sell through.”

The key categories that Laser plays in will continue to evolve including dashcams, wireless charging and Bluetooth audio. In addition, Laser will enter several emerging categories.

“Firstly, fitness tech with the launch of our sub-brand, V-Fitness, which includes a sub-$70 heart/sleep monitoring fitness band for adults, and a sub-$30 model for kids.

“While consumers invest in keeping themselves fit, they are equally focused on looking after their pets. The emergence of a variety of new pet tech has led to the creation and launch of our Tech4Pets brand and range of pet tech, including 4G pet trackers, water and food dispensers and pet toys.

“The key area that is likely to get some attention is our home automation and smart home range. While various solutions have been around for several years now, the emergence and fast penetration of Google Home and Amazon Alexa has made home automation more accessible than ever before.

“Our new range delivers significant consumer benefits with a price tag often half that currently seen in market. This includes doorbells, door handles, starter kits of sensors, cameras and IR controllers.

“2018 alone has demonstrated that we can look at the internal workings of our business while still evolving important categories and launching new ones. We have aspirations of doubling our business in the coming years and that can only be done in this market with strong relationships.”
