Series 2 now screening.

The second series of Australia by Design: Innovation has started on Network 10 and starts on Channel One from November 17.  The seven half-hour episodes showcase the best designs from the national Good Design Awards.

The first  six  episodes each  feature  ten different  designs, with one or more from each episode going through to the final episode to select the top 10 best designs of the year.

The concept is all about bringing  good  design  to  a  broader audience and  features  products  from  small appliances  to  cars  through to  medical  and sporting  equipment. It uncovers the key  ingredients  such  as  how  innovative  these are, what  makes  them  different  and  what  problem they are trying  to  solve.

Australian  by  Design:  Innovations is  a  game  changer  for  the  design  industry  in  Australia  and  internationally, head judge and Good Design Australia CEO, Dr Brandon Gien said. “The  topic  of  design  and  innovation  flies  mostly  under  the  radar  for  the  general  public  and  yet  it  is  so  critical  in  the  role  it  plays  in  helping  shape  the  world  around  us.

“With  the  saturation  of  reality  television,  cooking  and  home  renovation  shows,  Australia  by  Design:  Innovations stands  out  from  the  crowd  and  brings  immensely  interesting  stories  to  the  public  in  an  engaging  and  thought  provoking  way.  We  need  to  celebrate  our  design  and  innovation  heroes  just  as  much  as  we  do  our  sporting and  cooking  ones  and  this  show  does  just  that  in  spades,” he said.

The second series screens on Network 10 until December 30 and on Channel One until January 5.
