Takes style and safety outdoors.

Smeg has launched a stainless steel, hooded built-in barbecue that is said to be one of the most powerful on the market with a total of 72Mj/h of power and a thermostat that ranges from 0 to 400˚C.

The fat and oil collection system ensures the healthiest of barbecuing results. The inclined cooking plates and integrated liquid waste receptacle drains excess fat and oil away from the food and cooking surface to keep food as fat-free as possible. This technology minimises any flare-ups caused by fat meeting flame.

Safety also plays a role in the design with each of the five burners featuring a flame failure safety device.  Should the flame be accidentally extinguished, the gas supply will stop and the flame can only be reignited by following the regular ignition procedure.  A double insulated hood means the exterior is safe to touch.

The appliance is crafted from the highest quality 316 marine grade stainless steel, including the hotplates and warming rack, and features a laser-etched control panel.  The barbecue comes with an additional cast iron hotplate set and BBQ cover.

The new barbecue BQI1205HAU (RRP: $4,490) can be teamed with Smeg’s ultra-low profile single gas burner PBQ31GA (RRP: $1,150) and barbecue rangehood SBQ48X-1 (RRP: $3,250).
