Smeg Australia was selected as a major partner for Australian House & Garden magazine’s inaugural competition to create My Ideal House. Key aspects included the design, construction, materials, orientation and sustainability.
The integrated kitchen of the home showcases Smeg’s Linear appliances in white mirror glass and Stopsol Silver. All appliances from oven and cooktop to specialist compact oven feature matching aesthetics. The Smeg six star WELS dishwasher is integrated behind matching cabinetry.
The national competition sought entries from design professionals, architects and builders, as well as students of design and architecture. The winner, architect Madeleine Blanchfield, was announced in April 2016 with building commencing soon after.
The completed three-bedroom home in Gledswood Hills in south-west Sydney recently sold for a suburb record of $950,000.
Mirvac, the builder, donated $50,000 of the profits to the Salvation Army. Winner, Madeleine Blanchfield received a prize of $25,000.
