A battery that lasts all day, up to 1TB of storage and updated Bluetooth S Pen are just some of the key features of the new Samsung Galaxy Note 9 smartphone announced in New York overnight.

The 4,000mAh battery is the largest ever featured in a Galaxy flagship smartphone and offers enough charge for a day of talk, text, games and movies. Customers can choose between two internal storage options – 128GB or 512GB – with the ability to insert a microSD card to expand storage to 1TB.

The signature feature of the Samsung Note Series – the S Pen – is now Bluetooth and low-energy enabled, making it more than just a writing tool. Users can now take pictures, present slides, pause and play video, and more.

Another key cornerstone of Samsung design is the Infinity Display and the 6.4 inch Super AMOLED display on the Galaxy Note 9 has the largest edge-to-edge display ever on a Note. This is complemented by stereo speakers tuned by AKG that deliver Dolby Atmos audio.

As for the camera, Samsung has built on its industry-leading technologies with new capabilities. Scene optimiser identifies the scene and subject to automatically optimise the photo based on category, and flaw detection notifies the user if the image is blurry, there is a smudge on the lens, the subject blinked or if backlight is impacting the quality of the image. The Galaxy Note 9 also features advanced noise reduction technology and Dual Aperture lens to adjust light just like the human eye.

Other premium Galaxy technologies come standard with the Galaxy Note 9 including wireless charging, IP68 water and dust resistance, Knox security platform, as well as Samsung Health and Samsung Pay.

Samsung Electronics Australia vice president of mobile, Garry McGregor said the Galaxy Note 9 sets a new benchmark for what Australians should expect from a premium smartphone. “It is built on years of innovation, refinement, and listening to our customers to deliver the features they need so they can achieve more in their day.”
