To oversee strategic direction.

JB Hi-Fi has appointed Cameron Trainor to the newly created position of managing director – group merchandise. Trainor was formerly CEO of the JB Hi-Fi business.

In this new role, he will have overall responsibility for the strategic direction of the merchandise function across the entire group, including identifying group buying opportunities and maintaining supplier relationships.

Commenting on the appointment, JB Hi-Fi Group CEO, Richard Murray said, “Cameron is a high calibre senior merchandise resource. He has been fulfilling this newly created role in some ways but we decided to place him in a group role to avoid confusion when reporting into the business and to enable a clearer focus and responsibility.”

Trainor joined JB Hi-Fi in 2009 as merchandise director before being promoted to JB Hi-Fi CEO in 2016.

JB Hi-Fi Group CEO, Richard Murray will act as interim managing director of the JB Hi-Fi business pending the appointment of a replacement.
