JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman and others.

eBay has launched a Best Price Guarantee that competes with Amazon Australia, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman and Kmart. Shoppers who buy a new item on eBay but find a lower price on the same item at these retailers within 48 hours can receive an eBay voucher for the price difference, plus an additional 5%.

eBay Australia and New Zealand chief marketing officer, Julie Nestor said it is the biggest program of its kind in Australia.

“We know eBay sellers have the best prices, and we are willing to put our money where our mouth is. If Aussie shoppers do manage to find a cheaper price, we are not just matching prices – we are beating them,” Nestor said.

“Australians shop first on eBay because we have 40,000 Aussie retailers, as part of our huge selection of over 1 billion listings across eBay’s global marketplaces. We know Aussies are smart, savvy shoppers, so we encourage them to let us know if there are better prices out there. Competition only makes us better.

“Best Price Guarantee, coupled with free shipping and returns via our new eBay Plus membership program, are all about delivering the value and convenience Aussies love.”

The Best Price Guarantee is available on all new ‘buy it now’ listings, covering more than 70 million items from Australian and overseas sellers.

Aussie shoppers who find a cheaper version of their purchased item simply open a customer service online chat window and share their eBay item ID (found on their order confirmation email), along with a link to the identical item listed on an approved competitor’s website, within 48 hours of making the eBay purchase.  An eBay voucher for the price difference, plus 5% of the total competitor’s item price will then be sent to the shopper.
