OLED, Super UHD and 4K UHD.

LG Electronics Australia has unveiled its 2018 OLED, Super UHD and 4K UHD TVs to retail partners and media at an exclusive Sydney event. Featuring the company’s proprietary AI technology, ThinQ across the range, the TVs will be available in the coming weeks.

LG Electronics Australia general manager of marketing, Angus Jones said, “2018 is a massive year of innovation for us as we are integrating LG AI ThinQ technology into our TV range for the first time. This marks a significant and exciting step-change in our journey to help make the TV viewing experience easier and more intelligent for all Australians.

“Globally and locally we work with some of the best in the business such as Netflix, Dolby, Meridian and Google to name a few, to bring their expertise and experience into our products. Based on these partnerships our focus is on continuing to offer Australians premium cinema viewing experiences in the comfort of their own homes.”

There are seven new AI ThinQ-enabled OLED TV models, the W8, E8 and C8, with three different designs – Picture-on-Wall (model 77/65W8), Picture-on-Glass (model 65/55E8) and Cinema Screen design (model 77/65/55C8).

LG has also introduced its new α9 (Alpha 9) processor to its 2018 OLED TVs to reduce noise, transfer messages faster and create more realistic colours. It also supports high frame rate (HFR) video images with up to 120 frames per second, and 4K Cinema HDR with Dolby Atmos has been integrated into select models.

Pricing for the OLED TVs will start from $4,099 with the top-of-the-line model sporting an RRP of $19,990.

There are nine models in the 2018 Super UHD TV range, with the SK95, SK85, SK80 and UK75 ranging from 49-inch to 75-inch. The TVs feature Nano Cell technology with IPS to deliver vivid colours at wide viewing angles.

Full Array Dimming in the SK95 and SK85 series enables deeper blacks as it actively dims and brightens the backlight in these TVs to produce better contrast in videos on the screen. Pricing for the Super UHD TVs will start from $1,899 with an RRP of $4,999 for the top-of-the-line model.

LG is also introducing six UK65 UHD/4K AI ThinQ TVs in three sizes with webOS Smart TV platform. All models are Netflix recommended as they provide users with easy access to content with 4K picture quality. Pricing for the UHD/FHD TVs will start from $699 with RRPs to be confirmed for the top-of-the-line models.
