To coincide with 70 year anniversary.

Smeg has just released its most technologically advanced freestanding cooker to date, the Portofino, as it celebrates its 70 year anniversary in 2018. Portofino, inspired by its namesake village on the Italian Riviera, is a leap forward in world-first features and style. The American-style, semi-commercial cooker is available in eight colours including hues of sunshine yellow, olive green, coral red and burnt orange.

Smeg Australia managing director, Jim Kalotheos said, “The launch of Portofino marks the start of a very big year for Smeg – and one that will be full of new benchmarks in terms of design and technology for cooking appliances.  Portofino is a new level of innovation for Smeg – it is our most technologically advanced freestanding cooker to date. And what’s more – it brings colours such as burnt orange, sunshine yellow, olive green and coral red into our cooking collection. It’s symbolic of the continued investment made by Smeg into innovative, design-focused new products that offer choice to the consumer like no other manufacturer.”

World-first features include the Thermoseal cavity, energy efficient European A+ cavity for a 126 litre capacity oven, and triple fan technology with Dynamic Air Flow. The Thermoseal cavity is designed with rounded corners and smooth, uniform walls to create maximum thermal insulation producing the best energy performance of any 90cm oven on the market. Coupled with more powerful heating elements with 23 per cent higher wattage significantly reduces pre-heating time to a mere six minutes to reach 200 degrees Celsius.

Standard inclusions comprise five cooking levels, telescopic shelves, 40 watt halogen lamps on both sides for maximum visibility and a soft close door. An advanced electronic display offers intuitive control of the 16 cooking modes with 20 automatic pre-set recipes. A tilting grill, rotisserie attachment and optional fitted pizza stone are also included, in addition to pyrolytic self-cleaning technology, removable inner glass door and durable Ever Clean enamel interior.

The Portofino’s six burner gas hob includes an ultra-rapid burner plus cast iron trivets that have a flat surface, similar to a professional hob, to easily slide pots and pans. The Smeg Portofino freestanding cooker is available in both dual-fuel and induction models and is complemented by a 90cm Portofino rangehood.
