Samsung unveils its ‘best TV experience ever’

With screens that blend into home décor.

Samsung has announced its flagship line of 2018 QLED TVs set to provide consumers ‘the best TV experience we have ever offered’, according to Samsung Australia head of product AV, Hass Mahdi. Unveiled at a First Look New York event, the range comprises the Q9F (65, 75 and 88-inch), Q8F (55 and 65-inch), Q7F (55, 65 and 75-inch) and Q6F (55, 65 and 75-inch).

The most impressive and most talked about feature of the QLED TV lineup is Ambient Mode. The TVs can detect the colour or pattern of the wall on which the TV is mounted and match it with the interior décor to produce a seemingly transparent screen. By syncing with a mobile signal, it detects when a person is in the room to activate content. When not in use, the TV also acts as an information hub by displaying traffic, weather, news and more.

Other new features include Direct Full Array contrast technology (exclusive to Q9F and Q8F) and Bixby functionality, enabling users to search for content using voice commands. Through the SmartThings app, consumers can sync their Galaxy phone to the TV for easier setup and access to functions including program guides, remote control and video sharing between screens.

The new one invisible connection means there will be one singular cord that stands between the TV, external devices and power connection. This marks the first singular cable in the TV industry to transmit AV high capacity data while transmitting power.

Samsung also announced its 2018 Premium UHD TV lineup, the NU8500 and NU8000 with dynamic crystal colour, HDR10+ compatibility, clean cable solutions, and one remote control; the NU7100 UHD TVs, available in 43, 49, 55, 65 and 75-inch with 4K UHD and HDR picture capabilities, clean cable solutions, slim design and smart TV capabilities, as well as its ultra-large screen TVs, including the Q6FN, NU8000, Q7F and Q9F, offering screen sizes 75-inch or larger.

“This year we continue to bring incredible picture quality, enhanced smart capabilities and design that make Samsung TVs a perfect fit for the styles, viewing habits, and connected lifestyles of Australians. The 2018 QLED range opens a series of new experiences and offerings that will change the way people think about Samsung TVs and what our home entertainment products can deliver,” Mahdi said.

“Australians are looking for larger TVs. Thanks to outstanding picture quality of Samsung TVs and accessible high quality content, gone are the days where you needed a large room for a large screen. The Samsung 2018 range includes several models above 75-inches and above to provide choice for those looking for their next TV.”

The 2018 TV range will be available in Australia from April with pricing to be confirmed closer to launch.
