Now showing at Sofitel and Ibis hotels.

The new Sofitel Darling Harbour and refurbished Ibis King Street Wharf hotels in Sydney have given Sony a business fillip following the purchase of over 1,000 of the latest Sony Pro Bravia 4K flat screen panels.

Schwartz Family Company sustainability and projects manager, Paul Briggs said new technology, such as being able to Chromecast to the TV, was essential to the decision. “With the Sofitel next to the International Convention Centre a lot of our business is meetings and events based, so we wanted the absolute best screen technology for this audience. The Ibis is located in Sydney’s newest urban area, Barangaroo, and it hosts lots of corporate travelers who use the screens as part of their business.

“There is very limited 4K availability within hotels to date, and with our corporate and conference guests needing to use the panels for presentations and other work-oriented projects, and  leisure guests wanting to broadcast Netflix and other applications to the screen, we had to ensure that our TV technology could meet these requirements. The Sony TVs have many features that our guests would be used to at home and in a ‘smart’ era, our panels need to mirror the expectations of our guests,” Briggs said.

Company director, Dr Jerry Schwartz added, “Technology has never been more important for hotels and in terms of the television, it is an essential component of the guest experience. They demand amazing picture quality, top-class functionality and connectivity with their own devices, a product that could deliver this sets a new benchmark for the luxury hotel sector. To be one of very few hotels in Australia to offer 4K panels with capabilities to Chromecast, Miracast, stream and Google Platform makes a real statement and the response has been fantastic”, he said.
