Prior to retirement next month.

Shriro CEO, Mike Westrup announced his retirement in June this year, after 23 years in the role. Shriro recently hosted internal staff and friends of Westrup for a farewell celebration prior to his official departure at the end of the calendar year.

Shriro compiled the first issue of ‘Shriro Quarterly’ magazine with well wishes from internal executives and a retrospective look at his 26 years with the company.

Shriro Holdings Limited independents non-executive chairman, John Ingram:

“As a relative newcomer to Shriro I have only known Mike for three years. My first meeting with Mike was in the second half of 2004 when Shriro Pacific decided to sell off its Australia and New Zealand assets by way of an initial public offering…Mike was passionate about the company and very committed to it and his team that helped him build it and was positive about the future of the company….On behalf of shareholders, SHM Board, and your team, we wish you a long, happy and healthy retirement. Congratulations and well done.”

Incoming Shriro CEO, Tim Hargreaves:

“I will never forget the phone call I got from you over 20 years ago. The day that Nico saw the light and asked you to take the reins, the then small “tin pot” company named Mobex…I knew I finally had someone to begin a real career with, someone I admired, I knew I would love working with and would build the company into something truly special…Thank you for the way you have driven me and our company and steered our team around the park. Above and beyond everything, it has been a pleasure.”

Shriro Group CEO, Mr Vasco Fung:

“I have really enjoyed working with Mike especially when he offers solutions and delivers results always. He is not only a valuable asset to the company, but an enjoyable presence in the office, brings humour and laughter whilst making sure his team is committed in achieving the goal overall…His hard work and diligence have greatly contributed to the success of the company…Wishing Mike a fun and fruitful retirement.”

Shriro brand ambassador and renowned chef, Heston Blumenthal:

“Working with Mike has been absolute pleasure and I knew from the first time we met each other that we’d get along like a house on fire. The man always has a smile on his face, even when he’s serious. The success of Everdure by Heston Blumenthal is largely down to his ambition and vision…I brought with me 20 years of experience running a world-class kitchen and he brought 20 years of experience running a world-class company. The results speak for themselves and launching the brand is such a great way to end in style…I wish you all the best for the future.”

Shriro general manager of housewares, Maver Sims (recently retired):

“I worked with Mike for about 25 years in many different roles and experienced the numerous management changes and instability of the company prior to Mike becoming first MD and then CEO….Mike’s skills are many: a brilliant mind, strong leader, great sales person with a wicked sense of fun and an inspirational mentor to me and many other colleagues over the years.”

Shriro general manager retail and commercial, Craig Handley:

“As one of the original Hagemeyer employees, I first met Mike when he addressed Hagemeyer as the new owner and CEO following the Shriro acquisition…As a boss, an ally, a mentor, and all-around great bloke, Mike has set the benchmark for me.”

Shriro general manager to the management team / PA to CEO and CFO, Pearl Stuart:

“What an honour it has been to work for you Mike Westrup – a gentleman of note…You have left a remarkable legacy behind and one which will remain with us for years to come. You are leaving Shriro Australia a better place than when you found it, and that in itself, will remain a lasting tribute to your professionalism… We will miss you.”
