Make TV debut.

A new television series that will showcase the best in Australian design premieres on October 28. Australia by Design Innovation brings leading Australian innovators and industrial designers together to find Australia’s top innovation project.

Each episode in the series will feature eight different innovations and designs drawn from the Good Design Awards with the best projects from each going into the final episode with the winner chosen from 10 finalists.

Australian architect and Good Design Awards judge, Tim Horton, will host the program, with presenters Good Design Australia chief executive, Dr Brandon Gien and Top3 by Design founder, Terri Winter.

“Innovation at its most simple is about bringing an idea to market, but the power comes when you link design to creativity which allows that innovation to answer a need we did not know we had,” Horton said.

“The series uncovers the inspirational stories behind these amazing innovations and how good design turned them into brilliant products and services,” Gien said.

Among the ideas to be featured are solar powered barbecues, shark repellent surfboards and a smoke detector for the bush. The program goes to air on Channel 10 on October 28 and on ONE on Sunday October 29 and runs for six consecutive weeks.

The Good Design Awards are one of the longest standing and prestigious design awards in the world, promoting excellence in design, innovation and creativity at national and international levels across a broad range of industries and design disciplines.
