Completion scheduled for 2018.

Harvey Norman is preparing to open its biggest ever store later this year, according to Gerry Harvey. The Auburn store in Sydney’s western suburbs, which is currently under renovation, will open in mid-September. “It will initially sell computers and electricals, and it will be the biggest Harvey Norman store in Australia, with final completion scheduled for March 2018,” Harvey said.

Harvey flagged that the retailer was concentrating on upgrading and enlarging existing stores rather than opening additional stores with the release of its best-ever result for the half-year ended December 2016.

In March this year, Harvey Norman opened its new 7,000 square metre superstore in Booval, Ipswich in Queensland, with the largest cooking display in the area, measuring 270 square metres.

Late last year, Harvey Norman Bundall proprietor, Steve Cavalier and his team unveiled its Cooking Inspiration Gallery with a multi-million dollar renovation incorporating 27 industry brands.

Harvey also confirmed new stores in Ireland, Kuala Lumpur and New Zealand last week when the company released aggregate sales for the 10 months ended April 2017.
