Potential risk of explosion.

BSH Home Appliances is carrying out a voluntary safety campaign for selected Bosch branded freestanding 60cm gas cookers which were manufactured between January 2009 and October 2011.

The cookers were sold nationally between September 1 2010 and 31 December 2012.

In a statement supplied to Appliance Retailer, BSH said, “The safety of our customers is top priority for us and therefore, we are doing everything we can to contact our customers and ensure that our high quality and safety requirements are met.”

“During our comprehensive product monitoring, we have identified that in a limited number of appliances, a gas connection fitting might be damaged. As a result, gas can leak and in extremely rare cases there is a potential risk of explosion.

“We are offering every owner of an affected appliance the free replacement of the connection fitting by an authorised technician. The replacement is carried out at the owner’s home, resolves the issue completely and does not require any additional expense or effort on the part of the customer.

“We ask all owners of Bosch branded freestanding 60cm gas cookers manufactured between January 2009 and October 2011 to check whether their appliance is affected. We have set up a website and customer hotline for this purpose. The website can be accessed at www.gascookingsafety.com/EN-au and the call centre can be reached on 1300 955 742,” the statement continued.

BSH confirmed that approximately 600 units are affected but there has been no incident in Australia to date. Advertisements will be placed in various print and online media including social media to contact as many owners as possible.
