A compact automated flying camera system is being developed by Sydney-based technology company Internet of Things (IoT). Designed for thrill-seekers, the selfie drone can take photos of users surfing, snowboarding, skiing or riding a bike, according to IoT. The drone is expected to be available by this Christmas.
IoT chief executive Simon Kantor says the company takes existing technology then adds and improves its functions.
“We take innovation that is already out there, then we develop and tinker on top of it to add more functionality and make it more useful for the average consumer.”
“The selfie drone has a lot of smart software and sensors that we are able to source in volume at a good rate so that we can supply the product at an affordable price,” Kantor said.
IoT is also developing a GPS safety smartwatch for children, a rugged smartwatch designed for tradies, and smart clothing, including shoes that can provide information about the number of steps taken, posture and manner of walking, while smart singlets can measure blood pressure.
