In March 2015 it was made public that Sunbeam’s parent company was planning to acquire a new business following a surge in the company’s share price.

Today the details of the deal were revealed, with GUD Holdings announcing that it has entered into an agreement to acquire 100 per cent of Brown & Watson International (BWI) for a base price of $200 million plus an earn-out capped at $20 million.

BWI is a leading Australian and New Zealand supplier of automotive aftermarket lighting, electrical and battery products sold under the Narva and Projecta brands. BWI also services commercial transport, recreation and marine markets.

“Established over 60 years ago, BWI is a leading automative aftermarket business which owns the Narva and Projecta brands in Australia and New Zealand,” said GUD CEO Jonathan Ling. “BWI, together with our existing GUD Automotive business, will provide GUD with a considerably broader product offering to our customers in the growing automotive aftermarket and specialty segments.”

GUD’s automotive business segment also comprises of Ryco, Wesfil and Goss.
