Xbox will be revving up the V8 Supercars Championship this season as a team sponsor of DJR Team Penske, led by well-known driver Marcos Ambrose.

The V8s tend to attract tremendous brand loyalty from its large base of dedicated fans, and it has consistently been a popular vehicle for brands to promote themselves to the race-going and -viewing public.

Xbox business lead Jeremy Hinton said the partnership ties in well with the gaming console’s flagship racing titles.

“This year is truly exciting for us – a continuation of our ongoing partnership with the V8 Supercars, an innovative partnership with Ford and Forza Motorsport 6 and now with Marcos Ambrose and the DJR Team Penske team,” said Hinton. “There’s never been a better time to be a motorsport fan with Xbox in Australia.”

DJR Team Penske managing director Ryan Story welcomed Xbox on board. “It is fantastic to have Xbox on board for the season,” he said.

A test race is being held in Sydney across the weekend of 7-8 February 2015, before championship racing begins in Adelaide on 26 February 2015. The series finishes in Sydney on 6 December 2015.
