Smarter small appliances

Based out of England, Smarter is capturing the growing trend for connected smaller appliances, those which perform the traditional functions of boiling water, making coffee and toasting bread, et cetera, but with a modern and user-friendly twist. The first units off the production line are a kettle and a drip coffee maker (clearly aimed at the US market, which in coffee terms is still at philistine levels).

Christian Lane, CEO and founder, told AR that the goal is to take the hard work out of a person’s daily routine and to create a truly enjoyable user experience. As an example of these appliances’ smart functionality, when your iPhone wakes you up in the morning, the app knows to ask if you would like to start brewing your morning hit of caffeine.
