Miele executive directors Dr Markus Miele and Dr Reinhard Zinkann accept the National German Sustainability Award

Miele’s overall commitment to sustainable corporate practices has seen the German brand recently take out the ‘large companies’ category of the National German Sustainability Award.

Special mention was made of Miele appliances’ energy efficiency, durability and the longevity, ensured by rigorous product testing. For example the cotton cycle on Miele washing machines is run continuously for over 10,000 hours — the equivalent to five washes per week for 20 years.

The judging panel also recognised Miele’s transparency in presenting its activities in its Sustainability Report, which includes assessing the sustainability of its upstream suppliers.

“For Miele, responsibility and sustainable business have always been a key part of the global company philosophy,” said Miele ANZ managing director Michael Jeanes.

“This outstanding award recognises the company’s commitment to the development of appliances not only characterised by durability, constant innovations and unique design, but also incredibly intuitive, highly energy efficient with an excellent recyclable capacity.”
