Betta Home Living is getting into the spirit of summer, launching a new competition in conjunction with its sponsorship of the Brisbane Heat franchise in the T20 Big Bash League.

It’s fair to say this summer of cricket is longer than a Bill Lawry knock, comprising several ODI tournaments, a test series against India, a World Cup and, of course, the Big Bash. Thankfully, the clever folk at Betta Home Living marketing has devised a prize to make this smorgasbord of cricket slightly more digestible.

Those who successfully convince the judges that you know who will win the Big Bash this summer, and why, will win two recliners on the actual Gabba surface to watch the Heat take on other ludicrously named teams like the Scorchers, Strikers, 6ers and Stars. While sitting just outside the boundary, Betta will ply you with free food and soft drink and there even be a cameo appearance by a “mystery Aussie cricket legend”. UnderCurrent hopes it’s not Scott Muller.

It’s a money can’t buy experience, Betta Home Living says, and UnderCurrent tends to agree: this promotion will score the retail chain enormous exposure on Channel Ten when the matches take place in December and January; we can only hope the winners wear sunscreen.

Entries close 30 November 2014 so fans of getting close to the action should race to enter.
