The Ricoh Imaging Company has launched a new addition to join its Q series range of compact-sized, lens-interchangeable digital cameras, the Pentax Q-S1, which is designed to be ‘more fashionable and user-friendly than digital SLRs.’
With a classic design featuring synthetic leather panel, the Q-S1 comes in red, gold, black and white. The compact body approximately measures 105 millimetres (w) x 58 millimetres (H) x 34millimetres (D).
Suitable for all skill levels, shooting features include a 1/1.7-inch image sensor to deliver high-quality images, high-sensitivity shooting to a top sensitivity of ISO 12800 and a shake-reduction mechanism to reduce blur. It records in Full HD video at 30 frames per second and has a high-resolution 3-inch LCD monitor.
It also has a range of built-in image-processing tools and filters — more common to a smartphone app than a digital camera. Of 17 total options, 11 filters including Toy Camera, Invert Colour and Posterization can be applied even during the shooting of still images and movie clips, while the remaining six can be applied only during image editing. The user can even apply multiple filters to a single image to produce more inventive visual effects.
Users can assign four favourite modes to the Quick Dial positioned on the camera’s front panel. By turning the Quick Dial the user can quickly and effortlessly add a desired finishing touch to an image, while previewing the applied effect on the LCD monitor.
Accessories
The Q-S1 comes with a range of accessories specially designed to complement the camera’s style.
As well as protecting the camera from dust and scratches, the O-CC151 Camera Case has two strap lugs at the sides to keep the camera suspended at a level position for delay-free shooting. It is made of synthetic leather and will be available in black, cream or greige color.
The Pentax O-CC1512 camera case will come in a choice of black, cream or red.
The Pentax O-CC1513 camera holster is designed to fasten on a belt for quick removal of the camera. The main holster holds the camera with a lens attached, while two neighboring compartments hold the 06 and 02 lenses, respectively. Made of brown-colored synthetic leather, with a ring to attach a strap. A hand strap is also included.
