Lassie, Benji, Toto, Padfoot, Beethoven, Rin Tin Tin, Hooch, Huckleberry Hound and Snowy: UnderCurrent loves watching famous dogs on film and now, thanks to GoPro, it can enjoy film on dogs!

Go Pro Fetch.
GoPro Fetch.

Called the GoPro Fetch and available for RRP $89, this harness accessory enables existing GoPro camera owners to attach an action cam to their bulldog, shih tzu, dalmation or poodle — or any other canine from the myriad breeds somewhere between 7 and 54 kilograms. Scooby-Doo might miss out — he’s a Great Dane — but Scrappy-Doo might get a run, unfortunately!

“The adaptability and versatility of GoPro cameras make them the perfect device to document life from a dog’s point of view,” said GoPro senior director of product management Paul Osborne. “We designed Fetch to meet the unique needs and usage for pets and can’t wait to see the images and videos that owners will capture and share now that they have a mount specifically for their dog.”

The release of this harness reminds UnderCurrent of when very amusing Melbournite John Safran trolled venerable ABC music video show rage by sending in a clip filmed by a mate’s dog (“Forrest”) for playback on the show. Safran wanted to test the theory that, considering rage, has so many hours to fill every Friday and Saturday night, would it be prepared to show any music video it received? Turns out, it would!

UnderCurrent would very much like to see someone try to attach this harness to a cat. That would definitely lead to a few cuts, UnderCurrent thinks, and it doesn’t mean ‘CUT’ like a director might shout…
