We have already covered the Top 5 Xbox One games we’re most looking forward to and today it is the Sony PlayStation’s day in the spotlight. Our video games expert Andrew Jackson picks his next favourites…

5. The Last of Us Remastered
(Naughty Dog)
29 July 2014

LastofUs

Already released on the PlayStation 3 last year, The Last of Us won too many awards to count for it’s exceptional story and characters, impeccable gameplay and hauntingly beautiful backdrops. This year, Naughty Dog is delivering the definitive version of their best work, The Last of Us Remastered, featuring new content and updated HD graphics. A better version of an already best selling game, The Last of Us Remastered is sure to be a best seller, bolstered by the fact that you can’t play this game anywhere else but on Sony’s console.

4. LittleBigPlanet 3
(Sumo Digital)
30 November 2014

PlayStation’s lovable hessian mascot is back in LittleBigPlanet 3 and, as per usual, he’s exclusive to PlayStation. Next in a franchise that created a genre, LittleBigPlanet 3 sees the return of Sackboy along with three new cloth-based characters as they set off around a world made entirely of craft supplies on an adventure full of laughter, creativity, excitement and lost buttons. Once players are done saving the fabric of the universe (and that’s full intention), they can jump into the game’s robust level editor to create their own challenges to share with the world. And with English writer and comedian Stephen Fry once again lending his voice to the production as the comical narrator, LittleBigPlanet 3 is sure to be a hit with kids and adults alike.

3. The Evil Within
(Tango Gameworks)

EvilWithin

After releasing a video showing just how terrified this game makes its playtesters, it’s easy to understand why The Evil Within is one of the most hotly anticipated games of this year. A throwback to the survival horror genre, players are cast as a lone character stuck inside a supposedly abandoned mental asylum, struggling to remain alive. Hype for this games release has only been enhanced due to the lack of survival horror games in recent years. Odds are that players are hungry for more sleepless nights.

2. Assassin’s Creed: Unity
(Ubisoft)
28 October 2014

Continuing the pattern of yearly releases, the 7th game in this period piece assassin franchise departs from the natural worlds and sprawling ecosystems of the previous two games and heads to the big city. Set in revolutionary France, players are able to run, climb, dive and creep around a giant recreation of 18th Century Paris, with up to three friends. Assassin’s Creed has always sold extremely well and, with Unity’s yet-to-be-experienced time period and ability to have up to 2,000 individual characters on screen at any one time, that’s not going to change any time soon.

1. Destiny
(Bungie Software)
9 September 2014

Destiny isn’t just 2014’s most hotly anticipated game on PlayStation 4: it’s 2014’s most hotly anticipated game. Period. Developed by the creators of the original (and best) Halo games, Destiny is Bungie’s first foray into a new franchise. While Destiny is to be released on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4, the version on Sony’s console will feature more graphical detail and clarity, which is sure to turn the PS4 copy into the must-have edition. Set in a world where almost all of Earth has been destroyed, with the rest of it being protected by a mysterious alien spaceship, players can adventure around our own and other solar systems alone or with friends in this sci fi epic. If you pay attention to only one game this year, let it be Destiny.
