Longstanding

Smeg’s heritage in cooking design and technology dates back to 1882 when the Bertazzoni family began manufacturing wood-burning stoves. When entrepreneur Vittorio Bertazzoni founded Smeg in 1948, his vision was to create appliances for the future. The company’s first milestone was reached in 1956 with the launch of the ‘Elizabeth’, the first ever gas freestanding cooker with programmable start time, oven safety valve and timer.

Even now, 58 years later, all Smeg freestanding cookers are wholly manufactured at Smeg’s dedicated cooking factory in northern Italy, where Smeg has engineered many world-firsts, including the first pyrolytic freestanding cooker with induction hob.

Smeg’s ideology is that all products should express a ‘Made in Italy’ style by creating the perfect synergy between design, performance and attention to detail. For many years, Smeg engineers have collaborated with the world’s leading architects and designers to create beautiful appliances that lead in technological innovation and timeless style.

A Smeg freestanding cooker is not only the centrepiece of the kitchen, it’s the masterpiece in both form and function.

Outstanding
A Smeg freestanding cooker is engineered to the highest quality: each piece is built from hand-selected 304 grade solid stainless steel and machined by state-of-the-art Italian robotics – widely acknowledged as the best in the world. Each cooker is then carefully hand-assembled for absolute precision and quality control.

The best word to describe cooking with Smeg is – consistency. The C9GMXA, for example, features twin fans with twin-coil elements which rotate counter to each other, ensuring the most even heat distribution throughout the oven cavity. This, combined with Smeg’s unique dynamic airflow system, ensures an oven tray will cook evenly, corner to corner, edge to edge, every time.

And when entertaining, the C9’s massive capacity makes catering simple. Its generous 126 litres mean two roasts can be cooked side-by-side, with a huge tray of vegetables at the same time!

In the field of Freestanding cooking, Smeg really does stand alone.
