Beats Electronics, the audio brand co-founded by rapper Dr Dre and recently acquired by Apple, has released new colourful ranges of headphones and earphones. Beats is distributed in Australia by Ingram Micro.

The new Beats Solo2 headphones are available in black, white, red, blue, grey and pink and will retail for RRP $259 from selected retailers this month before wider availability commencing next month.

Appliance Retailer understands that Beats is the #1 headphones brand by value on on the Australian market. According to the release for these products, “nearly four” original Beats Solo headphone were sold in the United States every minute.

“When you think about Beats you think about iconic design, incredible sound, premium quality, profound comfort and of course, portability; we’ve worked hard to earn this reputation and along with that comes very high expectations,” said Beats president Luke Wood.

“Solo2 delivers on all fronts while finding new frontiers in audio performance to bring the emotion back to music.”

Meanwhile, Beats has also updated its earphones range with the unveiling of the Powerbeats2 Wireless collection. Apparently inspired by Miami Heat basketballer LeBron James, these earphones can play back for 6 hours on a single charge and have “relentless performance”, which is an amusing contrast from James, who suffered from serious cramp during the NBA playoffs.

Powerbeats2 Wireless earphones are available in black, red and white for RRP $259. As with the Solo2 headphones, the launch will only be through selected retailers before an expansion in July 2014.
