Samsung has provided a rather obvious solution to the hours we collectively spend standing in front of an open fridge pondering what to eat: a side-by-side refrigerator with a transparent internal door.
Samsung this week launched the 636L Samsung Food Showcase, which as the name implies, makes food easy to organise and locate with a shelving system and a transparent showcase door, a new feature for Samsung fridges. The transparent door, a common feature for commercial refrigerators, is covered by a the stainless steel external door, so shelves need not be on display 24/7.
Mike Lilly, head of home appliances, Samsung Electronics Australia, said the new refrigerator’s innovative showcase door design has been developed to provide families flexibility when storing and accessing food, as well as easy access to the most popular food, which can be stored and accessed on the internal Food Showcase door.
“The Food Showcase changes the refrigerator space for Samsung and our customers.
“For busy households, organising the refrigerator can be difficult, and at times, food can be lost, forgotten and wasted. Using the Showcase door, Australians will be able to see throughout the fridge shelves quickly and easily and help save time when storing or searching for their food and ingredients. With an impressive 610mm counter depth (without door), it will also fit in well to most kitchen spaces,” Lilly said.
Taking cold food storage to a new level of organisation Samsung have even named the zones within the refrigerator. The cooking zone (upper level) could be used for cooking essentials such as sauces, the family zone (mid-level) for storing drinks and cheeses and the kids zone (lower-level) can conveniently be detached and placed on the bench and is a good place for fruit and after school snacks for kids, Samsung said.
Retailing at RRP $4,599, the Food Showcase has an ice and water dispenser built into the door, saving space in the freezer, and Samung’s All Around Cooling technology.
It has a 2.5-star energy efficiency rating and includes Samsung’s Digital Inverter Technology, design to drive exceptional cooling performance. Samsung also offers a 10 years parts warranty on the Digital Inverter Compressor – the motor that powers the refrigerator.
