In a move reminiscent of an Apple launch, Italian manufacturer Smeg has sent out delightfully opaque invitations to a launch event in Milan next week:
Just as Apple likes to tease consumers and media with subtle hints as to what may be on the agenda at its launches, so too is Smeg. Our spies tells us we could be seeing, not just a brand new product, but a brand new product category.
There is definitely going to be a retro element to the event, as denoted by the classically Italian light blue tones, which are reminiscent of De’Longhi Icona Vintage sky blue ‘Anita’ shade. But what could the product be? The dial and handle jutting out from the left hand frame looks a bit like a toaster — could Smeg be entering breakfast appliances? I guess we will just have to wait and see…
