Premium Italian kitchen appliance brand Smeg has returned to sponsor the 2014 Australian Interior Design Awards, which, among other things, recognises the best in residential design, including appliances.

Smeg is very active in engaging with the specifiers, designers and architects industry, and is also a sponsor of the Kitchen and Bathroom Design Institute (KBDi) Awards program.

“The Australian Interior Design Awards recognises and celebrates interior design excellence via a credible, industry-based program, which is backed by the Design Institute of Australia, the professional body representing Australian designers,” said a spokesperson for the awards.

“There are seven primary categories: Retail Design, Hospitality Design, Public Design, Workplace Design, Installation Design, Residential Design and Residential Decoration.”

Smeg national marketing manager Jimmy Kalotheos said it was great to again partner with such a forward-thinking organisation.

“Smeg is once again proud to be sponsoring these awards as they promote and facilitate excellent innovation and design — something Smeg is passionate about and very much part of our DNA,” Kalotheos said.

The most relevant category to the appliance industry is Residential Design, which covers apartments, private houses, housing developments and multi-unit dwellings.

Entries in the 2014 awards are due by 12 February 2014 and the winners will be announced at the Hilton in Sydney on 16 May 2014.
