We're not 100 per cent certain that the near future involves us histrionically waving our hands in the space between our face and a display – a maestro’s flourish to compose an email seems farfetched – but for innovation, uniqueness and a modern approach to global pricing, Leap Motion gets the nod as our Product of the Week.

The full story on how Leap Motion found its way into Australian stores, those of the Dick Smith variety at launch, was written up in detail earlier this week, so we’ll leave it to local distributor Blonde Robot to accept this award with some sensational marketing-speak:

“Leap Motion provides a revolutionary new way for people to do more with their computers. Popular apps in Leap Motion’s Airspace Store allow users to play games, create art and music, explore new interactions and learn about science with touch-free hand movements.

“Leap Motion’s proprietary technology and compact, easy to connect USB device can track the in-air movement of both hands and all 10 fingers with incredible accuracy and no visible latency.”

Leap Motion is RRP $129 in Dick Smith, David Jones and Move stores, which is actually cheaper than it is online.
